Ighodaro: I've Proven Myself For Sundowns

The frustration of not having a permanent home is slowly creeping in for Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Etiosa Ighodaro, who would like more stability in his playing career.

Since penning a deal with Sundowns, Ighodaro has spent time on loan at University of Pretoria, Chippa United and now SuperSport United, with no opportunity yet to showcase his talent in the colours of the DStv Premiership champions.

His loan spells have not made him feel like he is not doing enough to play at Sundowns. He knows he is capable of proving himself in the star-studded Sundowns squad, but only needs an opportunity and trust.

If that opportunity does not come at Sundowns, the Nigerian forward is more than happy to pursue his career elsewhere, as long as he has a place he can permanently call home.

"For me, it's not about showing that I am good enough to play. There is no pressure, but it's just the movement. You can't really settle down in one place. It's not really good. You have to be at a club to find your ground and know your teammates. So with going on loan, you can't really get that because you have to play with different players every season," the striker said to the Siya crew.

"I would love to be in one place, fight for the team and play my football. You can't really achieve that in one season. Next season, I want to be in a team where I know that in the next two to three years I am still there. I don't know where that would be. I am still at SuperSport, so I still have to focus. I will decide at the end of the season.

"It's not even about being good enough (to play at Sundowns). I've proved myself. It's about whether they are going to give me an opportunity. I don't go to a club thinking if I am good enough. I know I am good enough."

Ighodaro would love an opportunity to go play his football abroad, but has no problem staying at SuperSport beyond the end of this season, as he is enjoying himself at the Tshwane outfit.

"When it comes to South African football, SuperSport is one of the best teams. If I am still going to be in South Africa, SuperSport are one of the teams I will consider playing for. My dream is to go overseas. I just need to find my ground and get a right offer.

"SuperSport are one of the best teams in South Africa. I've enjoyed my time. There are good players around me and I am competing every day, so it's nice. There's competition in my position. Bradley (Grobler) is doing well, so I need to use the minutes that I get."

Ighodaro has netted seven goals in all competitions this season, with two assists.
