What's the story?

The Super Eagles were welcomed back in Abuja in unreal fashion by the nation's president, who gifted each player with property and a plot of land for their AFCON 2023 showing.

Nigeria's President, Bola Tinubu, decided to treat the players despite their 2-1 loss in the final against tournament hosts, Ivory Coast.

Super Eagles get property land!

Nigeria's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign ended in heartbreak as they suffered their only defeat of the tournament in Sunday's final against the Elephants.

Led by captain William Troost-Ekong and coach Jose Paseiro, the Super Eagles finished second in Group A ahead of eventual winners Côte d'Ivoire and went on to knock out Cameroon, Angola, and South Africa on their way to the final.

The Super Eagles also proved to be one of the most defensively solid teams in the tournament, conceding only two goals before the final, thanks to the consistent performances of Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, William Troost Ekong and Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

Dressed in traditional wear, the Nigerian ballers were welcomed by President Tinubu in the nation's capital of Abuja. The players will be receiving a plot of land and apartments in the city, with every team member also being conferred with the honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
