Pitso: Sundowns Don’t Have To Call Me

Pitso Mosimane says that his former side Mamelodi Sundowns do not have to call him for the head coaching job, but has rather tipped the Chloorkop outfit to go on and claim CAF Champions League glory.

It has been seven years since the Brazilians last lifted the continental gong, with the club's only triumph coming under the tutelage of Mosimane in 2016.

They have come close on several occasions, even going as close as the semi-finals last season; however, the trophy has proven elusive to the Rulani Mokwena – led side.

Mosimane, who has been back in South Africa after parting ways with Al Wahda, recently spoke to KayaFM's T-Bose, where he spoke about a number of things including his links to the Kaizer Chiefs job.

The legendary coach also responded to questions of whether he would rejoin Sundowns, to which he responded they are on the right track, meaning that there was no need for them to consider his services at this point.

"Sundowns don't have to call me because they are doing exceptionally well," he said.

"What is the project there? Maybe the [Club] World Cup, yes. But I think they will win the [CAF] Champions League. They are close to it. They are like Manchester City, they will win it. Ultimately they'll win it and they are on the right course, and they'll go to the World Cup, we've been to the World Cup before and they will do it again," he explained.

Mosimane has also been linked with the Nigerian national team job in recent times.
