Garnacho Criticised For CR7 Celebration After Bicycle-Kick Goal

Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho has been criticised for copying Cristiano Ronaldo's celebration following his remarkable bicycle-kick goal in the Premier League this past weekend.

The Argentina international opened the scoring with a goal many believe could already be the best strike of the 2023/24 season as Manchester United beat Everton 3-0 away from home on Sunday.

The 19-year-old latched on to a floated cross from right-back Diogo Dalot in the third minute of the encounter, executing a perfectly-timed and placed bicycle-kick effort that Jordan Pickford could not get a hand to.

Garnacho then wheeled away in celebration before mimicking Ronaldo's iconic "Siu" pose in front of Everton supporters, having been vocal about his admiration for his former colleague in the past.

Experienced Chile international Arturo Vidal, though, was not too pleased to see the young winger follow in the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's footsteps.

"It's good that he is his idol, respect for that, but then he has to make his name," Vidal said via his Twitch channel.

"How are you going to celebrate a goal and remember it? I don't know, celebrate it another way."

The 36-year-old Vidal, however, did also praise Garnacho's "great goal" and label him as someone who is "an already great player".
