Man Utd Transfer News: 13 Out?

With the January transfer window fast approaching, there are as many as 13 players at Manchester United facing uncertain futures amid rumours manager Erik ten Hag is planning a significant clearout.

First-team players

According to Manchester Evening News, the Dutch tactician is tipped to get rid of several United players over the course of the next two transfer windows following the team's struggling start to the 2023/24 campaign.

Included in the 13-man list are only five first-team stars, including England international Jadon Sancho, who has not featured since September, and former Monaco prodigy Anthony Martial. The Frenchman has battled to make an impression under Ten Hag and will see his current deal end in 2024.

Sancho, meanwhile, has been banished from training with the squad following a fallout with Ten Hag in September after the ex-Ajax Amsterdam manager criticised his performances in training.

Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek is another player tipped to leave, having been given just 21 minutes across all competitions so far this term, while the publication believes it is unlikely that Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton will have their stays extended beyond this season.

Greenwood and other loaned out players

As per comments made from outgoing CEO Richard Arnold, the decision has been made by the club that Mason Greenwood, currently on loan at Getafe, will continue his career elsewhere. The 22-year-old could remain at the Spanish minnows beyond this campaign, although rumours suggest interest might come from elsewhere too.

Alvaro Fernandez, who is spending the season at Granada in Spain, could reportedly be sold, along with Brandon Williams, who has impressed on loan at Ipswich Town in the EFL Championship.

On-loan players and youngsters

Questions remain over the futures of Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat and Spanish left-back Sergio Reguilon. There are now doubts that United will look to exercise their option to buy Amrabat permanently from Fiorentina, while Reguilon is expected to get fewer minutes when Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia return to action.

In terms of players approaching an age where they could start knocking on the first-team door, defender Will Fish, winger Shola Shoretire and forward Joe Hugill do not appear close to breaking through at Old Trafford and therefore could be sold should clubs come in for them.
