Rasta Celebrates Bongi Ntuli’s Life

Rasta the Artist honoured late AmaZulu striker Bongi Ntuli with a portrait of him in the colours of the Durban-based outfit. Check it out.

What's the story?

The South African football world is still in mourning over the untimely passing of Bonginkosi Ntuli, who passed away early this month following a brief battle with cancer.

The popular pop culture fine artist, Lebani "Rasta The Artist" Sirenje, paid special homage to the late striker by painting a well-known portrait of Ntuli.

Let's take a closer look at Rasta's latest work...

Rasta celebrates Bongi Ntuli's life

Bonginkosi "Mdeva" Ntuli's tragic passing, aged 32, shook South African football to the core on 5 November, seeing a host of players, clubs and former teammates paying respects to the striker.

Rasta The Artist, who has become famous for commemorating the lives of influential people through his art, shared a portrait he worked in memory of Ntuli.

In typical Rasta style, the portrait doesn't directly resemble Bongi Ntuli, which isn't of much concern to the artist who regularly tweaks the features of his subjects.

Rasta's interpretation of Ntuli saw him depict the former Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns striker in the colours of Usuthu, a club that became family to Ntuli after he married AmaZulu's CEO, Sinenjabulo Zungu-Ntuli.

Take a look at the work:

Rasta wasn't the only artist who has painted Ntuli since his passing. After AmaZulu's 3-1 DStv Premiership win over the in-form Golden Arrows, the players took a team picture, holding up a painting of their former front man.

The painting was done by Patrick Tebogo from 3QS Canvas Art, a young artist who has worked with a host of PSL ballers, including AmaZulu skipper Veli Mothwa.
