Mbappe Stars As France Run Riot In 14-0 Win

France 14-0 Gibraltar

Kylian Mbappe bagged a hat-trick as France recorded their biggest-ever win by thrashing Gibraltar 14-0 in their European Championship qualifier on Saturday night.

Didier Deschamps' charges raced into a two-goal lead in the opening five minutes courtesy of an Ethan Santos own goal and a strike from Marcus Thuram.

Warren Zaïre-Emery, who became France's youngest debutant since 2014, bagged the third goal in the 16th minute but was taken off two minutes later after a dangerous challenge from Santos, who was shown a straight red card.

The fourth goal arrived in the 30th minute when Kylian Mbappe converted a penalty, while Jonathan Clauss, Kingsley Coman and Youssouf Fofana completed the first-half rout to make it 7-0 before the break.

The rout continued in the second half as Adrien Rabiot added his name to the score-sheet to make it eight in the 63rd minute, before Coman completed his brace two minutes later.

Ousmane Dembele got in on the act in the 73rd minute before added two more to complete his hat-trick, while Olivier Giroud rounded off a memorable night by adding the team's 13th and 14th goals of the night.

The emphatic win also sees France clinch top spot in Group B with one game to spare.

Netherlands 1-0 Ireland

The Netherlands qualified for the European Championship with one game to spare after defeating the Republic of Ireland 1-0 on Saturday night.

The Dutch opened the scoring in the 11th minute as Wout Weghorst found the back of the net after being set up by Stefan de Vrij.

The one goal was enough to hand Ronald Koeman's side the victory and take the final automatic qualifying spot in Group B.

Latvia 0-2 Croatia

Croatia boosted of their qualifying hopes with a 2-0 win over Latvia in Group D on Saturday night.

Lovro Majer gave the home side the lead in the seventh minute, before he turned provider to pick out Andrej Kramaric for the team's second goal in the 16th spot.

The win took Croatia above Wales into second spot with one match left in the qualifiers.

Armenia 1-1 Wales

Wales' hopes of securing an automatic qualifcation spot suffered a  blow after drawing 1-1 with Armenia on Saturday evening.

Lucas Zelarayán opened the scoring for the host after just five minutes, before an own goal from Nayair Tiknizyan in the 55th minute salvaged a point for the hosts.

Wales have dropped to third spot in Group D ahead of their final game against group leaders Turkey.

Switzerland 1-1 Kosovo

Switzerland have qualified for next year's tournament despite dropping points against Kosovo on Saturday night.

Ruben Vargas put the home side ahead two minutes after the halftime break.

Muhamet Hyseni did equalise for Kosovo with eight minutes remaining in the second half, but the point was enough for the Swiss to book their spot at the Championship.
