Chiefs’ Pursuit Of Women’s Team Ongoing…

According to information reaching Soccer Laduma, it's emerged that Kaizer Chiefs are still on the hunt for a women's team, with the likely next step being to purchase one that is already up and running.

The Soweto giants were linked with Hollywoodbets Super League outfit JVW FC, which is owned by soon-to-be retired Banyana Banyana defender Janine Van Wyk, but talks between the two parties eventually collapsed.

It's since been reported that Van Wyk confirmed talks with Amakhosi but confirmed the Glamour Boys did not meet the "requirements" set out by the potential seller for the deal to go through.

The Naturena-based side are desperate to be ready to comply with the criteria set out by continental football governing body CAF that teams taking part in the inter-club competitions should either own or be affiliated with a women's side. What also added to the pressure was the appointment of Chiefs' marketing and commercial director Jessica Motaung in the CAF Organising Committee for Women Football Standing Committee in 2022 until 2024.

The spotlight is on her to lead by example and this is part of the reason why Chiefs are not giving up on buying or establishing a women's team.

But the fact that Amakhosi are not campaigning in any tournaments on the continent at the moment buys them more time to work around the clock to move in the right direction – and the Siya crew understands this remains an ongoing process.
