What's the story?
Bafana Bafana have been drawn in the same group as Mali for next year's Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast.
South Africa last played Mali in AFCON when they hosted the tournament back in 2013, and that dramatic Quarter-final featured a rather hilarious moment between midfielder Reneilwe "Yeye" Letsholonyane and Seydou Keita.

Yeye's AFCON wedgie from Yeye
The draw for the 2023 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Cote d'Ivoire 2023 took place in Abidjan last night, with Bafana Bafana being drawn in Group E against Tunisia, Namibia and Mali.
Around a decade ago, Mali beat then AFCON hosts South Africa on penalties to qualify for the semi-finals after a 1-1 draw at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Bafana took an early lead in the match curtesy of Tokelo Rantie and Mali levelled things through their talismanic captain, former Barcelona midfielder, Seydou Keita.
In the heat of Keita's midfield battle with Yeye, the duo got their legs tangled which resulted in Keita gripping the former Chiefs baller's short, giving him quite the wedgie:

Despite being knocked-out by Mali that night, and the tussle, Yeye and Keita showed appreciation to each other by swapping jerseys.
Yeye, who retired in 2021 and is now coaching AmaZulu's Diski Challenge team, will undoubtedly be cheering on Bafana when they face Mali on 16 January.
