One of Lionel Messi's teammates at Inter Miami has explained why he does not believe the Argentine's debut campaign in the United States has been a success.

The Herons have experienced a difficult end to the 2023 campaign, having lost the Open Cup final and failed to qualify for the MLS play-offs, a run that has coincided with Messi struggling with injury.
The 36-year-old set the country alight upon his arrival, scoring a last-minute free-kick on his debut before going on to contribute regularly to goals and assists as Inter Miami went on an unbeaten run of 12 matches.
Former captain DeAndre Yedlin, however, feels the season cannot be considered a resounding success despite the team winning the Leagues Cup in August.
"If you were to say in June that we're going to end the season with a trophy, you'd probably deem it a success," he said, according to Goal.
"But after July, if you're to say you're going to end with only one trophy, you probably wouldn't deem it a success. It's how you look at it.
"As professionals, we want to win everything. So, for me, it's not a success. We won the first trophy in club history, and that's great, but we could have won the Open Cup and wanted more from the play-offs."
