Mourinho Facing The Sack? Replacement Lined Up

AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho could be reportedly be sacked if his side lose on Sunday, with a replacement already lined up.

Roma enter Sunday's clash against Cagliari in 13th position on the Serie A standings, having collected eight points from the first seven games.

Those eight points also means this is Mourinho's worst-ever start to a league campaign and could prove detrimental.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma president Dan Friedkin is open to the idea of relieving Mourinho of his duties if the side fail to pick up maximum points.

The Portuguese tactician is in his third spell with Rome club and he has not spent longer than three seasons at a single club.

The report adds that Roma president has identified former Germany coach Hansi Flick as a replacement should Mourinho be sacked.

Mourinho was defiant in response to questions about future last weekend and revealed he turned down a crazy offer to stay in Rome.

"Would I renew now? It's a hypothetical situation, I can't answer.

"What I can say is that three months ago there was almost a drama to think that I could leave.

"In Budapest on the pitch I told the players that I would stay, after Spezia I reiterated it to the fans, two-three days later I gave my word to Mr. Friedkin.

"In the summer I had the biggest, most important and craziest job offer a coach has ever had in the history of football: I turned it down because of my word.

"Now it seems that I am a problem, I do not accept it. I don't accept it because it's not true, I'm not a problem."
