Paris Saint-Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has hit back at Lionel Messi's claim about the club not celebrating his World Cup triumph with Argentina.

Messi revealed in a recent interview that he was the only player from the World Cup-winning squad not be recognised by his club compared to his teammates across Europe.

"I was the only player that wasn't recognized by his club compared to the other 25 Argentinian players," Messi said in an interview with OLGA.

However, Al-Khelaifi has disagreed with the Argentine's sentiments and pointed out the video the club released on social media.

"As everyone saw, because we even published a video, we celebrated Messi in training, and we also celebrated him in private," the PSG chairman said, as per Football Espana.

"But with respect, we are a French club. It was of course sensitive to celebrate at the stadium.

"We must respect the country he defeated, his teammates on the France team, and our supporters too."
