During the off-season, the 31-year-old attacker was informed by Paris Saint-Germain that he was not in their plans for the 2023/24 season. He subsequently completed his move to the Blue Wave in the Middle East as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.

However, Brazil's all-time top goalscorer has now revealed that while he harbours aspirations of one day playing in Major League Soccer, he will one day go back to his home nation to don the famous Santos jersey once again.

"And obviously yes, going back to Santos, I have this desire to play for Santos again," the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League winner told O Globo.

"I know that saying this now puts a lot of pressure (laughs), but I want to, I already wrote there when I was leaving: I'm going, but I'll be back.

"I want to play for Santos again, I don't know when, but you can be sure that I will come back."

Two years later, he would make his famous move to Barcelona to kick-start his career in European football.
