Seethal: West Ham United Are Getting A World-Class Player!

Seethal: West Ham United Are Getting A World-Class Player!

Mohammed Kudus is the second-most expensive signing in West Ham United's history after he cost the Hammers €43 million (R877 million).

Right to Dream's head of African recruitment Jeremy Seethal claims that, in Mohammed Kudus, West Ham United have acquired the services of one of the best players in the world.

The Accra native is arguably one of the shining diamonds of not only African football, but also of world football. The man who unearthed the attacker, as well as many other budding young talents from Ghana, is one of the main architects of the west African nation's thriving academy.

Right to Dream has seen many of its alumni become prominent figures at the highest level of European football in recent months, and perhaps none of them would be known to the world if it was not for Seethal. Black Stars representative Ernest Nuamah is now the most expensive player to depart Denmark's Superligaen following his €25 million (R510 million) transfer to RWD Molenbeek, breaking the record that was previously held by his compatriot and fellow Right to Dream alumni Kamaldeen Sulemana when he moved from Nordsjaelland to Stade Rennais in 2021.

Sulemana enjoyed a strong end to the 2022/23 Premier League season with Southampton, while another manager in the south coast of England, Roberto De Zerbi, is tipping Simon Adingra to be a big player for his Brighton Hove Albion side this season.

The aforementioned names are just a few in the long list of players who were unearthed by the Pietermaritzburg-born talent spotter, but for the time being, perhaps none of them are as prominent on the world stage as Kudus.

The 23-year-old was linked with a plethora of Europe's top clubs in this transfer window, but it is ultimately the London Stadium the 24-cap Ghana international has decided to make his new home. When Soccer Laduma quizzed Seethal about the type of player the Hammers faithful will be getting to witness, the world-renowned scout insisted that Kudus has the ability to become a legend for the east Londoners.

"West Ham are getting somebody as important to the team as [Lucas] Paqueta. He is versatile, will give them goals, create a ton of assists and allow them to have more possession as he is one of the best ball carriers and impossible to stop in full flight. It's an incredible signing for West Ham and the perfect signing taking them back to the days of the Joe Coles, Paolo Di Canios, [Frederic] Kanoutes in terms of entertainment and technical quality."

Since the Hammers moved away from their iconic Upton Park, not many players have illustrated a world-class quality perhaps somebody like Dimitri Payet was able to do prior to their departure from the historic stadium, but Seethal added that West Ham fans will be treated to the highest quality of football from the prolific attacker.

"West Ham signed a Champions League player so he is already at a world-class level!"
