Mothibantwa: I Said Mosele Should Go To Chiefs

Orlando Pirates could have succeeded in winning two games in a row in the league and in adding two more points to their tally last night had it not been for one of their own in Goodman Mosele spoiling the moment.

The Buccaneers went into their game against Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium oozing with confidence following their 5-0 win over Sekhukhune United in the MTN8 on the weekend.

Having taken the lead through Bandile Shandu early in the first half, Bucs were expected to cruise to another convincing victory last night but it wasn't to be as Mosele who is on loan at the Chilli Boys, hurt them with an equalising goal for the match to end 1-1.

Former Pirates midfielder Lebogang Mothibantwa believes that Mosele should have joined Kaizer Chiefs and not Pirates when he left Baroka FC in 2021.

The Good

"You know that boy before he went to Pirates, Chiefs wanted him. I remember commenting on it and I said that he should go to Chiefs. I have watched him play and he is a very good player. Sometimes it depends on what the coach wants at a specific time and maybe at Pirates the coach didn't see him as the right fit, I don't know. All I know is that the boy is talented…very, very good player. He is one of those players that we need in the national team. Before he left Baroka, as Pirates and Chiefs were after his services, I advised to say that the boy should go to Chiefs because I was confident that he was going to play there," said Mothibantwa.

The Bad

"Players like Mosele are always good to have and they just need to remain focused and stay out of the wrong things. I understand that players can struggle with certain issues when they are not playing and things like that but my advice in those situations is to always remember what took you to a bigger club in the first place and to continue doing that. Stay focused and be professional in terms of understanding that in football things are not going to always go your way. It is in times like those that he needs to make sure that he keeps his diamond shining," Mothibantwa said.

The Ugly

"Chippa United are not the right club for such a player. I'm sorry to say it, but that guy deserves to be playing for one of the big clubs. I've said it before and I'm saying it again, Mosele should go to Chiefs. There are too many players in his position at Pirates and the team's style of play doesn't suit him. The style is not fitting with what he can do," he added.

"A club that gives people hope"

"Pirates are a big club and I want to tell that to those guys who are playing there and I know they know this. It is a big club and not only with the word big and there are multitudes of people who support that club. That team was used to being consistent and you need to be consistent in that team and not fluctuate in terms of your performances. It is a club that gives people hope, a big team like your Real Madrid, Barcelona and all those other big clubs," concluded Mothibantwa.
