Olympique Marseille have been particularly busy in the transfer market in recent weeks.

The Olympians have acquired the services of Iliman Ndiaye, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ismaila Sarr, Geoffery Kondogbia and Amine Harit as they look to build on their third-place finish in the league last season.

The problem for the nine-time French champions is that all the aforementioned players are from the African continent, and with the next iteration of AFCON looming, many of their new stars could be unavailable for them in the middle of next season.

With the continental showpiece set to be held in January next year in the Ivory Coast, and with a large contingent of players from Africa at his club, Marseille president Pablo Longoria has now suggested that the French top division should seriously consider taking a break while Africa's most prestigious tournament is in action.

"We must manage with AFCON. When making signings, we have to take it into account but this must not stop us," the Spanish executive said, as per Get French Football News.

"We cannot base our recruitment strategy on one month.
