Manchester United have announced the club's second signing ahead of the 2023/24 campaign after spending around €60 million (R1.2 billion) on an African star's signature.

Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana has completed a move to the Red Devils from this past season's UEFA Champions League losing finalists Inter Milan.

The 27-year-old has joined the 20-time English champions in a package reportedly worth €60 million following the recent departure of David de Gea, who has left the club as a free agent after 12 years.

Onana first made a name for himself under Erik ten Hag at Ajax Amsterdam, whom he represented for six-and-a-half seasons between 2015 and 2022.

The sweeper-keeper featured on 145 occasions with the Dutchman as his manager in the Netherlands before he joined Inter and Ten Hag was appointed by United last year.

Onana impressed for the Nerazzurri, particularly in Europe, as he helped inspire the Italian giants to a place in the Champions League final against Manchester City, and now becomes United's second addition to the squad after the acquisition of Mason Mount.

Currently, the shot-stopper is not representing Cameroon after his fallout with Rigobert Song at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which resulted him being sent home early from the tournament.
