Polokwane & Downs Agree Terms For Motupa?

Polokwane & Downs Agree Terms For Motupa?

As previously reported by the Siya crew, Polokwane City were probably monitoring Mamelodi Sundowns forward Gift Motupa.

Now, Siya sources have indicated that the two parties have possibly agreed terms with Motupa heading to Rise and Shine who have just returned to the DStv Premiership after a few seasons in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Sources close to the situation told the Siya crew that what potentially remains now is for City to agree terms with Sundowns as he still has a two-year contract with the Brazilians.

The source added this may not be a loan deal but a permanent move back to Limpopo for the former Baroka FC striker.

"From the information I have, they were given the go ahead to speak to the player and the two parties have agreed terms," said the Siya source.

"I don't have all the details of the talks but apparently they proposed a two-year contract which the player is happy with. Now, it's up to Sundowns to say whether they want to loan him out and get him back next season as he still has two years remaining on his contract. Otherwise, they could sell him outright.

"But as for the player and Polokwane City, it's believed that they have agreed terms and everything is looking good," the source stated.

The 28-year-old joined Sundowns in 2020 from the now defunct BidVest Wits and signed a five-year contract which expires in June 2025. In his career, he has played six times for the national Under-23 team, scoring on three occasions and he also has one Bafana Bafana cap.

Last season, he had only played two league games, one MTN8 match and four Champions League games where he scored twice.

When called for comment, Polokwane City's Chief Operations Officer (COO) Tincy Tema told the crew that he knows nothing about the interest.

"No for now. I know nothing about that," said Tema.
