The Siya crew has been led to believe that SuperSport United will make a serious effort to sign a player who has officially parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.

As reported by SABC Sport, midfielder Haashim Domingo was unable to agree on a new deal with DStv Premiership champions Sundowns and he is now free to join a club of his choice, with the Siya crew being informed that Tshwane rivals SuperSport are ready to pounce on the experienced midfielder.

SuperSport are looking to build a stronger squad to ensure that they can compete both domestically and in the CAF Confederation Cup next season. Domingo is seen as one of the players they can add to a midfield that already has Grant Margeman and Siphesihle Ndlovu, who is expected to extend his contract with Matsatsantsa beyond June.

According to information received by the Siya crew, SuperSport have previously been interested in Domingo, when Gavin Hunt first arrived, and they now have an opportunity to bring him on board as a free agent. Sundowns had an option to extend Domingo's contract, but that did not happen and the player is expected to weigh his options, with the opportunity to work with Hunt again enticing. The two worked together at Bidvest Wits, before the club was sold.

The Siya crew understands both Cape Town City and Stellenbosch FC are to also enquire about Domingo, who made 17 appearances in all competitions for Sundowns this past season.

SuperSport are understood to also be looking at Gift Motupa, who is set to leave Chloorkop, as previously reported by the Siya crew.

Like Domingo, Motupa just completed a third season at Sundowns and it appears the club might not exercise the option they have on his contract. He also worked with Hunt at Wits and there is a strong possibility that he could go to SuperSport, especially because the club might not succeed in trying to sign Terrence Dzvukamanja from Orlando Pirates.

SuperSport are also looking to sign Phathutshedzo Nange from Kaizer Chiefs, as confirmed by CEO Stan Matthews recently.
