Mourinho 'Responds' To Chelsea Job Offer

Mourinho 'Responds' To Chelsea Job Offer

Jose Mourinho's decision regarding the managerial offer Chelsea are said to have made to him has reportedly been revealed.

Chelsea's hunt for a new permanent manager is said to have brought them to their former boss Jose Mourinho, who has reportedly given the club's hierarchy a response to their managerial offer.

The "Special One" made a grand entrance to English football back in 2004 when he was first announced as the Blues' new manager.

The Setubal native would go on to win back-to-back Premier League titles during his first spell in west London, and would add another winner's medal to his trophy cabinet when he returned to the English capital in the 2014/15 campaign.

Now, according to Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly was interested in bringing the two-time UEFA Champions League winner back to the club, but Mourinho rejected his advances in favour of staying at AS Roma.

The English juggernauts are enduring a disastrous campaign, having already fired managers Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, and are now looking for a new one.

Several candidates have already been ruled out for the position, and Mourinho has now seemingly been added to that list.

Mauricio Pochettino reportedly remains the leading contender to become Chelsea's next managerial appointment, but a final decision is yet to be made.

News that Mourinho had been shortlisted by the Chelsea chiefs comes at a time when his contract in the Italian capital approaches its final 12 months.

There has been much speculation surrounding the 60-year-old's future at the Stadio Olimpico, with links to Paris Saint-Germain, Al Nassr and the Brazil national team all occurring in recent weeks, but it seems he is likely to see out the rest of his current deal, which ends in June 2024.

Mourinho is looking to secure Champions League football for the Giallorossi for the first time in four years, and will likely look to compete in Europe's premier club competition with the Serie A giants should they successfully qualify.

Roma are currently outside the top four in Serie A, in sixth position, but only four points separate them from second-placed Lazio.
