Marumo Gallants explore Cairo

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa went narrowly close to a famous away win against Pyramids in Cairo in their CAF Confederations Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.

A goal from the in-form Ranga Chivaviro wasn't enough to see Dylan Kerr's men take a lead into the second leg at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium after Pyramids equalised in the dying minutes of the game.

Afterwards, the club and Kerr sought out to create a better travelling experience for Gallants by taking the players and staff to visit the Pyramids of Giza.

"When in Rome (well Egypt) I arranged for the players staff to go to The Pyramids 1 of the 7 wonders of the world and I'd like to thank everyone for an amazing performance tonight unfortunately not a win but what an honest performance from my players we sure can play and it's amazing how we came to this football part of Africa no one giving us a chance and should have come away winners," read Kerr's IG caption, on a post featuring a gallery of the club visiting the pyramids:

The Pyramids of Giza

According to National Geographic, the Pyramids of Giza are the tombs of Egypt's old kingdom era and were constructed more than 4 000 years ago.

The Pyramids are situated just outside the city of Cairo and were built by three Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, Khufu, his son Khafre, and Menkaure, son of Khafre, as per the landmark's website.

Regarded as an architectural marvel, the Pyramids of Giza are one of the Seven Wonders of the World and they were constructed on the Giza plateau during the fourth dynasty of Ancient Egypt's Old Kingdom.

The Giza plateau also has many other smaller pyramids and temples, as well as monuments like the Great Sphinx of Giza. Known as the only surviving wonder of the ancient world, they were made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
