Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has broken his silence on the 'excitement' seen on the faces of the club's management after drawing Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup semi-final.

Fans, coaches and club bosses alike, were all in abated breath after Chiefs' quarterfinal win over Royal AM on Sunday evening as the draw for the semi-final was conducted immediately after the game.

Chiefs were drawn against sworn rivals Pirates, while Stellenbosch and Sekhukhune United have been drawn in the second semi-final.

Visuals coming from the Chatsworth stadium depicted Chiefs' management celebrating after learning that the semi-final will be a Soweto Derby, with Amakhosi drawn as the home team.

Chiefs' recent dominance could be part of the jubilation expressed by the Chiefs hierarchy, but Zwane has explained why there were celebrations upon the announcement.

"It's not going to be like that, as easy as everyone thinks because cup games are totally different to league games. But as I said, we treat every game with respect, and unfortunately this one is not like any other game. There's a lot at stake once you meet Pirates, you're expected to be on top of them and make sure that you win the game," he told journalists.

"I think the excitement comes from knowing that we're playing Pirates, that is also doing well, that will be good for South African football as well. You know not only about Chiefs, but South African football, with Pirates doing well and we're also finding our way up.

"I think it's going to be one game that's very good to watch," he continued.

The semi-final will be played on the weekend of 6 and 7 May, with the finer details of both matches to be shared in due course.
