The Siya crew has been led to believe that Mamelodi Sundowns are closer to making a decision on the future of an attacking player who has struggled with injuries and game time, as they prepare to make space in their foreign quota.
Sundowns are understood to have already identified their targets for next season and a few of them are foreigners, which means they need to decide who will be registered as non-South Africans when the 2023/24 campaign gets underway a few months from now.

One of the players Sundowns are believed to be ready to sacrifice is Erwin Saavedra, the Bolivian attacker who has had a difficult spell since making a move to Chloorkop in January last year.
The Siya crew recently reported that Saavedra could leave the club at the end of the season and it now appears an exit is almost certain to happen, with the player also not closed to the idea.
Saavedra has endured difficult times in South Africa, including being away from family, and it has not made it easy for him when it comes to fully settling into his normal game at Sundowns. Since joining the club, the Bolivian international has not had a consecutive run of matches where he has been able to find his rhythm and make an impact in the team.

Instead, he has been given a few minutes now and again as a substitute, struggling to get into the starting line-up even when he is fit to play. The 27-year-old has made just one start in the six appearances he has made in all competitions this season.
