The Blues are currently without a manager after the club sacked Graham Potter this past weekend following their 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.
The west Londoners have been linked with a whole host of world-class tacticians since, but it seems that they may want to be as thorough as possible when deciding on who the Englishman's successor will be.
The likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique and Carlo Ancelotti have all been linked with the Stamford Bridge hot seat in recent days but as they wait to decide who will be a suitable manager to lead this young team for the foreseeable future, it appears they could appoint a caretaker manager until the end of the campaign in the form of Lampard.
According to The Sun, the club are open to their all-time top goalscorer seeing out the rest of the season as they conduct their vetting process for a new permanent manager. Lampard has been out of a job since being sacked by Everton in January, but was seen in attendance at the Blues' 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Tuesday night.
