Where To Next For May Mahlangu?

The Siya crew has reliably been informed that May Mahlangu, 33, is considering his future after parting ways with Kazakhstan outfit FK Aksu.

Despite being heavily linked with a move to the PSL last year, the Stars of Africa Academy development product eventually signed on the dotted line with the Khazakhstan Premier League side for his second stint in the country.

He joined in May, but parted ways with the club just seven months later, in December 2022.

The latest development in the nomadic midfielder's career is that he is back in his hometown of Secunda in Mpumalanga and that he is contemplating his future, with retirement one of his options.

Mahlangu has spent the last 15 years of his career abroad, having left South African shores in 2008, and is one of the few players who have never plied their trade locally despite being linked with a move to the PSL in the past, with rumoured moves to Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, amongst others, never really materialising.

"He is one of those players that has made a decent living abroad. If he decides to continue playing, it's because he still has the desire to do so, not because he needs it to finance his lifestyle," a source informed Soccer Laduma.

Mahlangu has played in five different countries in Europe, namely Sweden, Turkey, Belgium Romania and Khazakhstan.
