Critically Ill Child Meets Idol Lorch & Pirates Squad

A Reach For A Dream wish was granted for Happy Tswangae, who's pictured alongside his family and the Orlando Pirates squad.

Orlando Pirates makes young superfan's dreams come true

The Reach For A Dream fulfilled 13-year-old Happy Tswangae's dream of meeting the Sea Robbers during a training session at the Rand Stadium.

Tswangae's got to meeet the entire Pirates squad and watched them train, the stuff that dream's are made of for any football fan. 

Reach For A Dream revealed that Tswangae has always dreamt of meeting his team, especially his favourite player, Lorch.

On his dream day, he received the biggest surprise when Reach For A Dream invited him and his family to Rand Stadium to watch Pirates train and after the session, Twangae was invited onto the field to meet the team and shake hands and take a picture with his idol. Lorch.

The 13-year-old boy from Potchefstroom is battling an autoimmune disease known as Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), where the immune system attacks tissues, causing inflammation and organ damage.

Although there is no cure, his symptoms can be managed through intensive medical treatment.

Reach For A Dream, South Africa's leading non-profit organisation that fulfils the dreams of children suffering from life-threatening illnesses   

"Orlando Pirates are honoured to fulfil Happy's greatest wish and would like to wish Happy all the best in his journey to recovery.

"From what we have seen, he is an incredibly resilient young man with a bright future ahead of him. We hope that his time spent with the team has inspired him to believe that dreams do come true!" says Thandi Merafe, the Orlando Pirates Spokesperson.

Reach For A Dream is one of South Africa's leading non-profit organisations that fulfils the dreams of children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.  

This charity has been around for the last 35 years and last year, they were awarded the CSI Legacy award for Best NGO in South Africa.
