Sundowns Striker Ready To Compete For Spot At Chloorkop

Sundowns Striker Ready To Compete For Spot At Chloorkop

Thabang Sibanyoni wants to fight for his place at Mamelodi Sundowns.

As the season heads towards the end, striker a striker currently out on loan is waiting anxiously to hear what the future holds for him at Mamelodi Sundowns.

After being loaned out to University of Pretoria and Sekhukhune United previously, striker Thabang Sibanyoni was sent to rivals SuperSport United for the season. But, with under three months left before the campaign comes to an end, Sibanyoni would prefer to know as soon as possible what the future holds for him at Chloorkop.

Sibanyoni has scored one goal for SuperSport in 13 appearances this season, in a 2-1 defeat to Golden Arrows in January. He has sometime left before the end of the season to improve on his numbers and convince the Sundowns technical team to recall him next season.

"I will ask what's going to happen with me, if I am going to be loaned out again or if I am staying (at Chloorkop). But I would love to stay. It's tough because you don't know what's happening. It's better when you know what's going to happen next season. That's why it's better to ask early about your future, so that you can prepare yourself. My agent will ask, so that I can focus on finishing the season with SuperSport," Sibanyoni told the Siya crew.

Competition for places at Sundowns has always been tough. Cassius Mailula is having an incredible debut season in the topflight and Peter Shalulile is still a menace upfront, while the likes of Thabiso Kutumela and Gift Motupa have found it difficult to get regularly game-time whenever they are free from injury.

Sibanyoni is aware of this, but the player prefers to be at Chloorkop to have a fair chance of fighting for a spot in the team.

"At this stage, I have been loaned out enough. It's better for me to go there and fight for my place and compete with the guys," Sibanyoni told the Siya crew.

"I can compete, because you never know what would happen. I also have to have that confidence that I can do what they are doing."
