With Scott Chickelday confident of Monnapule Saleng winning the PSL Player of the Season award, he has revealed what makes the Orlando Pirates trickster different from the rest of the players in the PSL.

Chickelday, for five weeks had the opportunity to get a front row seat to watch Saleng in action, as he joined the Buccaneers on a short-term basis as a striker coach.

The coach highlighted Kermit Erasmus and Terrence Dzvukamanja as two players that impressed him, but it was Saleng that left an impression on him, so much that he has punted the 24-year-old for the Player of the Season award.

Speaking in edition 1313 of Soccer Laduma, Chickelday has pinpointed the traits that make Saleng stand out.

"With Saleng, I think what he has is he plays without fear, which is what I love about him, he doesn't fear anyone, you know, 1V1, he's very confident.

"He's confident in front of goal, he shoots from various angles and for me, he was one of the most exciting players that I've seen in my time in South Africa, in the PSL. I thought he was a fantastic player.

He's a great human being, he's a really nice guy and yeah, I think he has everything. He's such a good player, and like I said, I would be very surprised if he didn't win Player Of The Year this season," he said.

"With Saleng, it's not just about his goals, I think he has about eight assists or something like that as well, so he's very rounded and his numbers are very balanced. He scores goals and he creates goals, so again, that's what's really sort of stood out for me," he said.

Saleng has managed nine goals and four assists in all competitions for Pirates this season.

Chickelday also speaks on:

·       What Pirates strikers were lacking

·       The difference between African and European Strikers

·       Whether he will be back in South Africa in the near future
