Insider On Impressive Downs Loanee’s Bright Future

Etiosa Ighodaro

An insider has predicted a bright future for an on-loan Mamelodi Sundowns player who is expected to return to the club as part of the plans for next season.

Spending the current season on loan at Chippa United, Etiosa Godspower Ighodaro has emerged as one of the in-form players in the DStv Premiership and is in the race for this season's Golden Boot.

Ighodaro is joint second in the goalscorers' charts along with some of the league's sharpshooters in Downs' Cassius Mailula, SuperSport United's Bradley Grobler, as well as Kaizer Chiefs' Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana who are all on seven goals, behind the leading goalscorer, Peter Shalulile, who is on nine goals.

The Nigerian forward is said to be in the plans in Chloorkop to finally get a chance to prove his worth after overcoming his injury troubles that delayed his progress.

"Look around the league and find an in-form striker who can use both feet and head so well and who is doing better than Ighodaro, and I doubt you will get many. That boy is on top of his game and doing well at Chippa United and has impressed his parent club, Mamelodi Sundowns. Look at the team (Sundowns) now, and yes the results have been good as everyone can see, but one can see that there is a need for a striker to be added to the team," said the source.

"Ighodaro is earmarked for a return and he could be one of the players to assist (Cassius) Mailula in scoring goals. As much as Mailula is doing well and scoring goals, he could do even better if he can play primarily as a second striker and having someone as big in shape as Ighodaro playing in front of him as a target man and they can score a lot of goals while there are also the likes of Peter Shalulile and others who are equally good," the source concluded.
