Bayern 'Decide' Punishment For Neuer After Shock Interview

Bayern 'Decide' Punishment For Neuer After Shock Interview

Manuel Neuer

Following Manuel Neuer's controversial interview in which he criticised his team Bayern Munich, reports claim that the club has now decided the German international's punishment.

Klopp 'Makes Decision' On Liverpool Future

The 36-year-old is currently out of action having broken his leg during a skiing trip in late 2022, but despite the shot-stopper's absence from the Bayern fold, it appears he could not stay out of the headlines as he recently sent shockwaves through the club when he publicly expressed his displeasure at goalkeeping coach Toni Tapolovic's dismissal.

Neuer said that his "heart was ripped out" upon hearing the news that the coach, with whom he had worked closely alongside for more than a decade, was leaving the Allianz Arena, with the Croatian having reportedly been dismissed for allegedly leaking information from the Allianz Arena dressing room.

The decision to sack the goalkeeping coach was taken without consulting Neuer, and in an interview with The Athletic, the legendary Bayern No. 1 made his feelings known.

According to Bild, the goalkeeper will now face repercussions for his comments, with the Bavarian giants set to hand him a heavy fine of £1.4 million (R30.3 million), which is proportionate to his salary at the club and falls under the bracket of "intentional" and "negligent" offences.

"What Manuel said in parts of these two interviews in connection with Toni Tapalovic's release does neither do justice to him as captain nor to the values of FC Bayern," club CEO Oliver Kahn said on Friday evening at the request of the German Press Agency.

"In addition, his statements are untimely because we are facing very important games."

Al Ahly Coach Makes Shock Admission After CWC Loss

With the 10-time Bundesliga winner out injured for the foreseeable future, the club secured the services of Yann Sommer from Borussia Monchengladbach in January, and he is expected to deputise for Neuer for the rest of the campaign.
