Goss Praises SSU For Treatment Of Chiefs-Bound Defender

Goss Praises SSU For Treatment Of Chiefs-Bound Defender

SuperSport United goalkeeper Ricardo Goss has applauded the club for not sidelining Thatayaone Ditlhokwe after signing a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs.

It's happened a few times in South African football where players have been overlooked for selection after signing a pre-contract elsewhere. Siyethemba Sithebe, who is now in the colours of Kaizer Chiefs, was not considered for selection at AmaZulu during the second half of last season after penning a pre-contract with Amakhosi.

SuperSport, however, made it clear that they kept Ditlhokwe because he forms a key part of their plans to finish in the top four.

"They (SuperSport) are professional individuals. Some teams would bench players (who sign pre-contracts) or put them out of the team, but SuperSport have proven otherwise. Credit should go to them," Goss said to the Siya crew.

Goss says Ditlhokwe will be missed when he leaves for Naturena, but congratulated the Botswana national team captain for the move which will see him spending four years with Amakhosi.

"I am one for partnerships, you know? Like if a pair is doing well and working well together, I always find it uncomfortable once they are separated. But, for him, it's a good move. It's a very big move and we just wish him the best in the future. SuperSport has a lot of talent. We will get from the academy," the Mamelodi Sundowns loanee said.
