Official: Al Nassr Issue Statement After Ronaldo 'Extra €200m' Claim

Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr have published a statement after it was reported that Cristiano Ronaldo would earn an extra €200 million (R3.6 billion) following his move to the Middle East.

New Portugal Coach Addresses Ronaldo's International Future

Earlier this week, it was claimed the 37-year-old would be paid a further €200 million, on top of his enormous salary in Saudi Arabia, to help promote the country's 2030 FIFA World Cup bid.

The club he has joined, however, issued a public statement on Wednesday night to quash the rumour, insisting in no uncertain terms that their deal for Ronaldo does not include serving as an ambassador for the Middle Eastern nation's ambitious plans.

"Al Nassr FC would like to clarify that contrary to news reports, Cristiano Ronaldo's contract with Al Nassr does not entail commitments to any World Cup bids," the club wrote on its official Twitter.

"His main focus is on Al Nassr and to work with his teammates to help the club achieve success."

Ronaldo joined Al Nassr as a free agent in the January transfer window, but is still waiting to make his debut after being told he would need to serve a two-match suspension carried over from a ban he received in England.
