Barca President Addresses Future Plans To Acquire Haaland

Barca President Addresses Future Plans To Acquire Haaland

Transfer Update: Kane

The Catalan giants were hotly tipped as one of the possible landing spots for Haaland when it became apparent that the 22-year-old would be leaving Borussia Dortmund in 2022, with many of Europe's elite sides battling it out to secure the services of a player who already seemed to be a generational talent.

It would ultimately be Manchester City who snapped the Norwegian up from the Bundesliga club for €60 million (R1 billion).

Since arriving in England, the Scandinavian sensation has been scoring at an other-worldly rate, and has already broken a number of Premier League records.

While his 27 goals in 22 appearances for the Citizens so far have been impressive, the English top flight might not be his home for too long, with his father Alf-Inge Haaland previously stating that the Nordic forward wishes to test himself in as many different leagues as possible.

Should the prolific young star once again be placed on the market, there is almost no doubt that suitors would once again be lining up to try to sign the striker.

Barca are likely to be interested once again should such the opportunity arise, but when the club's president Joan Laporta was asked recently about the possibility of signing the Norway international, he seemed to suggest it is not something they are planning soon.

"I hear that Haaland's father is saying that after a while at City maybe... but we'll see how it evolves, for now we're doing our thing, that Lewandowski is doing very well," he said, as per Cadena Ser.

Bayern 'Close' To Signing Ex-Man Utd Star

While the Spanish executive remained coy about the possible acquisition of one of City's stars, Laporta also once again expressed his views on club icon Lionel Messi's departure in 2021, insisting that letting the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner go was in the best interests of the club.
