Mbappe Speaks For The First Time After World Cup Defeat

Mbappe Speaks For The First Time After World Cup Defeat

France superstar Kylian Mbappe has broken his silence after his 2022 FIFA World Cup final heroics were not enough to stop Argentina from winning the trophy via a penalty shootout.

Mourinho 'Conflicted' Over Portugal Job

The 23-year-old had a stunning game as he managed to help his side claw back level on two occasions in the global showpiece's finale.

Mbappe went on to secure the competition's Golden Boot with his hat-trick against La Albiceleste, but unfortunately for the Paris native, his efforts were not enough to help the French retain their world title.

The Paris Saint-Germain talisman matched and broke a number of records on the night, one of them seeing him become only the second player to score a treble in the final of a World Cup after England's Geoff Hurst in 1966.

Having become the first teenager since Pele to score in a World Cup final in 2018, Mbappe was keen to add to his reputation in the Gulf as he put the ball into the back of Emiliano Martinez's net four times throughout the encounter at the Lusail Iconic Stadium on Sunday.

However, the Argentina goalkeeper was able to thwart Aurelien Tchouameni and Kingsley Coman in the shootout to help his team win the tournament.

Mbappe did not make himself available to the media after the game, but has since taken to social media to comment on the outcome of the tournament.

"We will be back," he wrote on his official Twitter account.

The French were the first side to make it to back-to-back World Cup finals since Brazil did so in 1998 and 2002 ,but unfortunately for the western Europeans, they were unable to become only the third nation in history to retain the title.
