Man Utd To Replace Ronaldo In January? Ten Hag Reveals Verdict

Man Utd To Replace Ronaldo In January? Ten Hag Reveals Verdict

With Cristiano Ronaldo's departure creating a lack of depth up front for Manchester United, head coach Erik ten Hag has revealed whether or not the club will be looking to sign a striker in the upcoming transfer window.

Ronaldo Nazario: Brazil Wanted Pep, But He Declined Offer

A now-infamous interview with Piers Morgan proved the final nail in the coffin for Ronaldo's exit from Old Trafford, with the club and the Portuguese marksman deciding soon afterwards to mutually part ways, leaving the Red Devils with a void to fill up front.

While speaking to the media recently, Ten Hag revealed that United were looking to replace the five-time Ballon d'Or winner but would only do so on one condition.

"Yes, but only when we find the right player," he admitted, as per Goal.

"We do everything in our power.

"We are doing research on every opportunity and we do everything we can if that opportunity is there to contract them."

Some players who showed their quality despite their relatively young age at this year's FIFA World Cup, such as the Netherlands' Cody Gakpo and Goncalo Ramos of Portugal, have been linked with moves to the home of the record Premier League champions, but the former Ajax Amsterdam head coach refused to single out any attacker who might be on United's transfer radar.

"I cannot give comments on specific players. I will never do that," Ten Hag added.

"Players have contracts and I respect that, but make sure we are working in the background to get the right players in."
