Ronaldo On Angry Sub Reaction: I Told Him To Shut Up

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has explained what angered him before he was taken off in the defeat to South Korea on Friday evening.

Ronaldo started for the third straight game at the FIFA World Cup, but was unable to find the back of the net as Portugal suffered a 2-1 defeat.

The 2016 European champions had already qualified for the round of 16 coming into the game, while they also managed to clinch top spot.

Ronaldo was withdrawn just after the hour mark for Andre Silva and appeared to be unhappy with the decision, however he reveals his reaction was towards a Korean player.

"What happened was that, before my departure, the player from Korea told me to leave quickly," Ronaldo said after the game, as per Goal.

"I told him to shut up. He has no authority, he doesn't have to give an opinion, he would speed up the pace if he were the referee. But there doesn't have to be controversy, things stay on the pitch."

Portugal coach Fernando Santos also echoed Ronaldo's remarks when asked about the substitution.

"Cristiano Ronaldo left upset because a Korean player was sending him away and Pepe even had to intervene," he added.

"I heard what the Korean player was saying. If you see the images, you see Pepe going after the South Korean because of that."
