Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos has spoken publicly for the first time since finding out Luis Enrique had not selected him for Spain's 26-man FIFA World Cup squad.

The 36-year-old was not among those chosen to represent Spain in the Middle East, despite having been back to full fitness in France.

Ramos, who is his country's all-time record appearance maker, endured an injury-stricken 2021/22 campaign but has become an important member of the PSG squad since Christophe Galtier's arrival.

Rumours last month suggest the veteran centre-back was included in Spain's preliminary squad, with the ex-Real Madrid man having voiced his disappointment after missing out.

"The World Cup? Of course, it was one of those great dreams I had to fulfil," he said, according to Marca.

"It would have been my fifth, but unfortunately I'll have to watch it at home."

Ramos has made 180 appearances for Spain since his debut in 2005, and has previously represented his nation at four World Cups.
