Messi To Make Special World Cup Request To PSG

With the FIFA World Cup fast approaching, reports claim that Lionel Messi is set to make a special request to Paris Saint-Germain in anticipation of the global showpiece commencing soon.

Ibrahimovic Aims Dig At Messi, Neymar and Mbappe

In 20 days, the world's eyes will be fixated on Qatar when the global spectacle that is the FIFA World Cup kicks off.

With the hosts set to get proceedings started against Ecuador, it is Argentina many within the football fraternity will be eagerly anticipating to get their tournament started, largely because of Messi.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has announced that Qatar 2022 will be the last World Cup of his career, which is why he will be trying his best to capture the world championship trophy that has proved so elusive throughout his career.

Brazil 2014 was the closet Messi came to winning the competition, when he reached the final with the Albiceleste, but they were thwarted by Germany in extra-time.

This time around, the diminutive playmaker will be exhausting all his options to make sure he is as prepared as possible for the global showpiece.

According to Gaston Edul of TyC Sport, the former Barcelona man is set to request to not to be included in PSG's final league game before players go away to meet with their national teams ahead of the tournament.

The record Ligue 1 champions are set to face Auxerre on 13 November, and given that he recently came back from a minor injury, it appears Messi does not want to compromise his fitness with the tournament so close.

Having come so close to adding a third world title for his nation eight years ago in Rio de Janeiro, 2022 will arguably represent Messi's best chance to emulate the classes of 1978 and 1986.

Argentina are also coming off the back of an impressive 2021 Copa America title win, and are currently in the midst of a 35-match unbeaten run.
