Ex-Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has revealed that Pep Guardiola once dropped him because he was overweight.
Pep Hugely Impressed By 19-year-old Star
Last year, the Argentine forward left the Citizens a club legend following a decade of service during which he became the side's all-time leading scorer in history with 260 goals in 390 appearances.
It was, however, not always easy going for the striker in Manchester, particularly following the arrival of ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss Guardiola, who once deemed him too heavy to start.
"If your ideal weight is 79-80kg and you were 80 kilos and 100 grams, you would be fined and you don't play," Aguero said on an El Chiringuito live stream, according to the Daily Mail.
"But it can happen! You come across a little bit of chicken, for example, then you are going to be 50 grams over!
"The first season we were between fourth and third and he said, 'I left you out because you turned up fat this week'. And what was I going to say? He was right… these things happen.
"He said it in a good way. And at this time I didn't really have his confidence. But I was always very respectful to the coaches."

Aguero scored 124 goals and assisted a further 29 strikes in 182 matches under Guardiola's management.
