Dolly Stunner Rescues Chiefs In Four-Goal Thriller

Kaizer Chiefs dropped points for the second consecutive game in the DStv Premiership after they rescued a 2-2 draw against TS Galaxy on Wednesday evening.

DStv Premiership

Result: Kaizer Chiefs 2-2 TS Galaxy

Date: 19 October 2022

Venue: FNB Stadium

Chiefs made four changes from their defeat against Chippa United, as goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma, Zitha Kwinika, Khama Billiat and George Matlou were recalled while former Amakhosi striker Bernard Parker started from bench for Galaxy.

Arthur Zwane's charges were patient on the ball in the opening exchanges and Ashley Du Preez gave them the lead with their first chance on seven minutes after tucking home a through ball by Matlou at the near post.

Chiefs continued to put together a string of passes without resistance from the Rockets but they were were not clinical in front of goal and Sead Ramovic made a change on the half-hour mark as Parker came on for Lifa Hlongwane for a change of approach going forward.

The visitors threatened after that as Bvuma was called into action a couple of times and Parker restored parity three minutes later with a crucial touch close the goal-line to deflect home a header in the box from a corner situation.

The Glamour Boys were punished just before the interval from another long ball in the box after Djakaridja Traore powered home a header from a cross by Tshegofatso Nyama to give Galaxy the lead.

Chiefs pinned back Galaxy in their own half early in the second stanza but lacked the decisive pass, with Zwane making an attacking change around the hour mark, as Kgaogelo Sekgota replaced Matlou.

Galaxy were absorbing the pressure with numbers behind the ball and made it difficult for Amakhosi to get behind their defence.

It took a stunning free-kick from Keagan Dolly in the last ten minutes to restore parity for the Glamour Boys after he curled an unstoppable strike into the top corner.

Amakhosi gained momentum and Yusuf Maart should have scored the winner in the dying minutes after a rebound found him unmarked in the box but his low volley was kept out by shot-stopper Melusi Buthelezi, as the Rockets held on for a point.
