Pitso’s Challenges Laid Bare In First Outing

With his first game as Al Ahli head coach now under his belt, Pitso Mosimane has highlighted a number of challenges he will need to rectify at his new club.

Mosimane sat in the dugout for the first time as his side squandered a lead to play to a 1-1 draw against Narja SC on Wednesday evening.

The result was a disappointing one for the 58-year-old, given that his side had taken an early lead, although they gave their opponents a way back into the game after missing a number of gilt-edged chances.

After the match, Mosimane gave an insight into what his side is lacking:

Lack of Experience

"You must know that Ahli lost a lot of experienced players, and these are young players and some of them are inexperienced, only some have experience. We need to try and get the foreigners on the pitch to help us, at the moment it's the Saudis who really carry the team, so we need to get foreigners to help us and they have to work a little bit harder."

Tactical discipline

"I have to work on the team, there's a lot of work to be done, tactical discipline needs to be done. We could have killed the game in the first 45 minutes. I can see mistakes, but you must know that I just came here. I've got two days here, so its not very easy for me to correct everything in two days' time. We have time to be honest, we'll get the team right," Mosimane said in his post-match interview.

Finishing

"Today what we needed, Aysham one-on-one with the goalkeeper, Hishaam in front of the box, Ziyad [was] alone, we had four chances, we did not take them. That's what we could have done, take one of the four chances."

Physical conditioning

"We need to get the physical conditioning right, I don't know how the pre-season training was going, so it's a bit of a of a difficult situation, we need to get the body right and get them conditioned to play for 90 minutes, you can see that the game dropped a little bit. Its not easy for me, I'll check it. We need to get the body right, we don't have time but I'll make a plan," he added.
