Pedri Picks Between Messi & Ronaldo

Pedri Picks Between Messi & Ronaldo

Talented young Barcelona midfielder Pedri, who used to play alongside Lionel Messi in Spain, has revealed who he prefers between the Argentine and ex-Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo.

Upon his arrival at the Catalan giants in 2020, the teenager was tipped to be loaned out but impressed enough in pre-season for then-manager Ronald Koeman to include him in Barca's first-team squad.

Pedri went on to make a staggering 54 appearances for the five-time UEFA Champions League winners in his debut campaign, starring alongside high-profile names such as Messi and Antoine Griezmann.

Although he shared a dressing room with Messi for just a single campaign, the 19-year-old, who would go on to become an important regular in Luis Enrique's Spain squad at the 2020 UEFA European Championship, still holds fond memories of the Argentine.

Asked recently to weigh in on the age-old debate as to who is better between Messi and former Real forward Ronaldo, Pedri said he believes his ex-teammate is "more complete" than his rival.

"Cristiano is an amazing player, a total show watching him score goals," he told TCL.

"But for me, Messi is more complete, a player who gives you all, so for me, I keep with Leo Messi."

Following his exploits for Spain at the Euros, which was held last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Pedri suffered an injury-hit 2021/22 campaign in which he played just 22 games across all competitions.

'Messi Is The Best In History'

This season, meanwhile, Pedri has made four starts in five LaLiga matches, scoring once so far.
