Wits Fan: Thanks, Siwelele!

There has been a nasty twist in the race for the Absa Premiership title after log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns lost to Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday night. The defeat means Bidvest Wits still stand a good chance of winning the league for the first time since the inception of the Premier Soccer League in 1996.

With Wits trailing Sundowns by four points, they could reduce the difference to just one point when they play Downs on 11 May, provided that both teams acquire similar results until then. The Clever Boys did themselves no harm in securing three points against Orlando Pirates at the Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday, and Mpho Ramahlo, a passionate Wits supporter, feels this may be their season to conquer.

"I am very happy!" he said.

"Sundowns is no longer far from us. We have closed the gap. They're only four points ahead of us.

"We can't sit and wait for someone to do the job for us. We have to go all out; we need to show that we need this trophy.

"Thanks a lot to 'Siwelele Sa Masele' because they did a very good job by beating Sundowns."

The outspoken Wits supporter also suggested that, had the Students lost against Pirates, and Sundowns won their match against Celtic, it would have been difficult to close what would have been a 10-point gap. However, his team had other ideas for the Buccaneers.

"The coach planned well for the game against Pirates. We scored early and defended well," he continued.

"The next teams that face us must know that we're going to collect maximum points."

Judging by Wednesday night's results, where do you think the league title will head to at the end of the season? Have your say below.
