It's About Time We Conquer Africa… again!

The pride of the nation lies within every team representing our country in continental and international competitions. It could be Bafana Bafana or any domestic club. The nation stood up and united as one when Orlando Pirates won the Champions League in 1995 just as much as it did when Bafana won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1996.

With that being said, in my opinion Mamelodi Sundowns deserve the backing from every South African on their quest to African glory. Just as much as we would love to see our respective teams to do well on the continental front; it doesn't mean that our fellow competitors do not deserve our support when it's their turn to take on the rest of Africa.

Bafana Ba Style have been doing well for themselves both locally and continentally. Although it's 'every man for himself' in the PSL, they definitely need our backing in the Champions League. We all know how these other African teams treat our local teams when we play away in these competitions. We have heard numerous stories about the hostility and all, for which we give none in return when they come to play in our country.

The only way our teams can do well in Africa is by uniting. We, as the football supporters, should fill the stadiums to full capacity. European teams do not back each other because their football has developed tremendously. We have not stamped our authority yet in our continent, and the only way to do so is through a strong foundation… and that is unity.

It's no longer about our teams in Africa; it's about our rainbow nation. Like I said before, we don't have grounds to stand on and defend our argument that our League is the best or even one of the best in the continent without conquering the continent first. We have to conquer Africa!

With the large influx of money invested in our league; we really have no reason to fail in Africa. It's about time our teams stand up and be counted. It's about time our domestic teams remind the so-called African giants who we are and what we're made of. It's your responsibility as a patriotic citizen to play your part in the development of our football…

How far do you think Sundowns will go in the Champions League? Will you be supporting them on their quest to African glory? Share your thoughts below.
