The Siya crew has learnt that Orlando Pirates could be releasing more players before the transfer window slams shut on Friday.
Last week, the club announced that two players – defenders Tebogo Tlolane and Justice Chabalala, would be departing and heading out on loan to Maritzburg United and Bloemfontein Celtic, respectively.
Now, the crew understands that they could be joined by others, one them being utility player Asavela Mbekile, who has not seen any action since August last year.
The 33-year-old arrived on a free transfer from Mamelodi Sundowns back in July 2018 and has been used sporadically in that period.
Before the Christmas break, the Siya crew reported of a possible switch to Chippa United, his former club, but it appears nothing has materialised in that regard, though the door is not completely closed for a potential move before the window shuts.
Mbekile has plenty of experience and has won two Absa Premiership titles while at Sundowns as well as a CAF Champions League trophy with the Brazilians.
It now appears his future may be away from Pirates as he looks to revive his career elsewhere, and is it likely that he will not be the only one searching for greener pastures this month.
Indications are that Mbekile could also leave the Buccaneers on a loan deal given that his contract with the club only expires in June 2021.
