According to the Daily Mirror, several senior figures in the United dressing room have held important talks with the club's hierarchy in a plea for more signings to be brought in.
It is suggested that Ronaldo, Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw have insisted that help is needed before the transfer window slams shut on 1 September.
United are currently bottom of the Premier League table following their defeats to Brighton Hove Albion and Brentford, having made just three signings for the 2022/23 season so far.
Christian Eriksen was lured to the Red Devils as a free agent, while Lisandro Martinez arrived from Ajax Amsterdam and Tyrell Malacia was signed from Feyenoord.
United have been strongly linked with Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong for the past three months, while Alvaro Morata, Adrien Rabiot and Mauro Icardi have emerged as new targets since the campaign got underway.
Other reports emerging from England claim that players in the club's dressing room believe the current squad is not good enough to compete for a respectable position in the Premier League, with some also said to feel Maguire's role as captain is undeserved.
