Back To Reality For Chiefs

Back To Reality For Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Almost a week after winning the Nedbank Cup, Kaizer Chiefs return to lead action with the mission of making sure they do not set a record they do not want to have.

Chiefs are in danger of missing out on a top eight position for a second consecutive time, which would be the first time it happens for the club.

Currently in ninth place on the Betway Premiership standings, Amakhosi will have their worst ever finish in PSL history should they fail to win their remaining two matches of the campaign.

With Royal AM expelled from the Premiership, clubs are expected to finish the season on 28 matches, two less than the norm. And if Amakhosi do not get at least two points in these last two matches, it will go down as their worst season in the PSL era.

Last season, Chiefs finished outside the top eight on 38 points and are currently on 30 points after 26 matches. That means if they do not get at least two points in their remaining matches, they would not reach 38 points even if it was a normal 30-game campaign.

Head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who is linked with an exit at the end of the season, has a big job in the last two matches, starting with Sekhukhune United on Saturday. It's an away match and Amakhosi have struggled on the road this season, with just three victories.

Meanwhile, Sekhukhune are determined to finish third and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.
