Downs Players Who Could Miss Out On Club World Cup

With Mamelodi Sundowns prepraring to go to the FIFA Club World Cup, there are a few players who look set to miss out on the trip.

Sundowns will be travelling to the USA next month to take part in the 32 club competition and are in Group F with Fluminense, Borussia Dortmund and Ulsan.

Sundowns are unlikely to travel with all their five first team goalkeepers for the competition, with Reyaad Pieterse believed to not be heading to the competition.

Left-back Asekho Tiwani sustained an injury while on duty with the national under-20 team during the Africa Cup of Nations and it remains to be seen if he will recover in time. Right-back Zuko Mdunyelwa's place in the squad travelling to the USA is uncertain, as is the case with midfielder Ntando Nkosi, who has been part of the first team this season at Chloorkop.

South American attacker Matias Esquivel is expected to leave Sundowns when the season ends and the Siya crew understands he also won't be part of the team.

All the players who were loaned out for the season will not be travelling with the team. This means the likes of Sipho Mbule, Ricardo Goss, Lebohang Maboe, Sifiso Ngobeni, Etiosa Ighodaro, Ishmael Watenga, Rushine de Reuck and Thembinkosi Lorch will not be travelling with the team.

Coach Miguel Cardoso will be determined to lead the Tshwane giants past the group phase as they look to make history.
