Sipho Mbule has again been the subject of speculation over his future following confirmation by SuperSport United that he has been suspended.
The talented midfielder was a notable absentee at his club this week as they were preparing for their Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash TTM on Friday night, and CEO Stan Matthews has since revealed in the media that Mbule is on ice.
Our resident secret agent has weighed in on the latest saga involving a player the Siya has been told is expected to play for Mamelodi Sundowns next season.
"For the club to suspend him, it must have been a serious incident that has occurred, however it's not really fair to comment on this too much, without all the facts. However, as a player there is no doubt he has qualities, but that is never enough," the agent said.
Mbule was accused by Matthews of "not respecting his teammates and the technical team", throwing his future at SSU in doubt.
"What must come with that for any player, is professionalism, work ethic, attitude and living cleanly off the pitch. In addition, respect for your peers and those around you. Mbule has struggled to get through 90 mins in many games, he is a player who has been blown up in the media, but has not been consistent and delivered on this hype," the Soccer Laduma resident secret agent added further.
"We are led to believe, he has a pre-contract with Sundowns and the clubs have agreed a fee. Whether this is true or that it is subject to certain clauses, we do not know. However, if true, Sundowns must be then rethinking their interest."
As the secret agent has previously stated, there's a slim chance the other two giants of SA football, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, would be keen on Mbule.
"I do not see him going to KC or even OP, both clubs are restructuring, redefining their recruitment strategy, players with off-the-field issues, the wrong mentality, will not get through the door," the football intermediary said.
