Greg Etafia, 36, turned back the clock this month by coming out of retirement as a back-up goalkeeper for Highlands Park.

The former Nigeria international actually never officially announced that he was hanging up his gloves – Moroka Swallows were relegated from the Absa Premiership more than four years ago and he just never made it back between the sticks.

Now that his return is official – his son Kevin Etafia, an 18-year-old burly centreback, is also now on the books of Highlands Park, albeit playing for their reserves.
"It's an unbelievable feeling," Etafia senior tells the Siya crew in an exclusive interview. "I am a proud father and I have to thank the Highlands management – Larry Brookstone, Sinky Mnisi and Brad Kaftel. They made this possible."
Young Etafia has genuinely caught the eye. He is the captain of the u/19 team that recently lifted the Bayhill tournament in Cape Town and he was picked as the best defender during the Engen tournament sponsored by pay-channel SuperSport this month.
Those sort of competitions are crawling with top scouts from around the country – and the world. It's possible Etafia junior could have impressed one of them.
"He has a South African ID," reveals his proud father, who himself will hope to make an impression on coach Owen da Gama to be able to grace the pitch one more time.
"I am fit and that I owe to coach Owen and his techical team. He has been a father figure to me. I must mention Simone Conley (Highlands Park fitness guru and biokineticist) as well. I am sharp, training every day and having to keep up. And I hope I can also set an example for my son."
Etafia will have to wait though. There's Thela Ngobeni, Tapuwa Kapini (injured), Marlon Heugh and Kyle Peters ahead of him, but you just never know!
